#orlandolove
On Saturday night, we all went to bed safe and happy, and on Sunday morning we awoke to chaos.
Chaos that ensued through the night. That left us feeling completely empty.
When we first heard the news on the radio or on tv, we just sank. This couldn't be happening, not here, not in our home. It's different when you hear about these types of attacks far away, but now, this is at our front door.
In our face tragedy that we just don't know what to do with.
But that's not entirely true, because as a whole, our community stepped up.
We put aside our differences, and we came through for each other.
I want to encourage everyone in this time.
Here.
In Orlando, to take that moment to help the person next to you, to give that smile, and offer your hand.
We won't know if the person standing next to us in the Starbucks line, the person stopped at the light across the street, or the table you are waiting on lost someone in these attacks, but it doesn't matter, because we all lost someone here, because this is our city, these are our people.
If we can learn anything from this attack on our home, it should be love.
We are humans, and we are meant to show love to one another.
Monday morning when I came into work, the very first person I served was a single gentleman. It was early, 7am. Everyone is a little out of it then, but his smile, although pleasant, was missing something. You could tell his heart was broken inside.
In times like that, sometimes I just don't know what to do or what to say, and all you can offer is yourself, an open heart, and a shoulder to cry on.
We didn't talk much, but the normal interaction between a server and a guest. Then, he was gone. But he left this on the table.

When I read this, I just wanted to run after him, I wanted to give him a hug and a shoulder to cry on, or to just sit with him so he would know he is not alone.
That is what I want this blog to be about. These exact moments when we as humans can offer each other comfort and help. I challenge you all, to everyday look to be this love that you want to see all over the world. To reach out to the stranger next to you. To complement that passerby, or just say a kind word to your friends you might not normally say. You just never know what they are going through and who could use that extra dose of love that you can provide.
This stranger did just that, he showed me love.
Love through pain.
He reached out and opened my heart.
So please...

Have patience.
and remember,
Love always wins.
We are one.
One community.
One love.
One heart.
&
One pulse.
